Teaching

Prof. Audia has developed a new approach to teaching leadership in an MBA curriculum that complements the traditional approach based on the case method. Rather than teaching students how to lead through in-depth analyses of cases of effective and ineffective leaders, in his core Personal Leadership course the lens shifts from other leaders onto the students themselves. The objective of the course is to help students to acquire knowledge about their leadership behaviors through 360 degree feedback from former co-workers and peer coaching. Prof. Audia believes that knowledge about oneself is critical to leadership effectiveness because it enables leaders to choose the settings in which they can capitalize on their strengths and it helps them to identify areas of their leadership profile that require improvement. In his role of faculty director of the Center for Leadership Prof. Audia also designs leadership development activities that give students opportunities to hone their strengths and address critical gaps. Besides teaching MBA students, Professor Audia is teaches in several Tuck Executive Education programs including the Tuck Advanced Management Program, where he is faculty director; Leadership and Strategic Impact; and several custom programs.
